On a day of showers, thunder and glorious sunshine we managed to install the playground markings to the great satisfaction of Mrs Wilkinson and her staff.

One of the main features of this installation was the human sundial, an intricate and complex piece of work.

Each location throughout the world has its own unique set of calculations for the correct installation of the human sundial, and as a consequence it took just over two hours to install.

Firstly we had to find true north, not magnetic north and once we had done this, the mathematics took over. This really is an excellent educational tool for the children as the sundial shows both GMT and British Summer Time.

Mrs Wilkinson’s comments were as follows;
